Coaches Report

We entered the competition hall with great anticipation. Though we trained hard in the dojo no one knows what the results will be at the competition but we step forward with our heads held high, knowing we have prepared as much as we can for the time allowed to compete in this championship.

Our two youngest members Ayame and Sumire prepared well for their kata event. With great determination the sisters eliminated their opponents to face each other in the final. Ayame being the youngest sibling performed well however Sumire's performance on the day gave her 1st place. Eilidh was also in this event and we are very proud of her achievement, gaining 4th place. These girls showed great spirit and determination. Great work girls.

Ayame, Sumire and Eilidh also performed well in their kumite events. Though Ayame and Sumire have good technique and vigorous combinations they were out matched by their more experienced and taller opponents. I feel with more experience behind them they will achieve more in future competition. Eilidh on the other hand has more experience and was successful in achieving 1st and 2nd place for her relevant events.

There were high level of competitors at this championship and Glen Walker, Grant Connolly and Sean Connolly also performed well in their individual events. Glen achieved a 3rd place in kata and kumite. Grant achieved 1st place in all his divisions and has been a consistent performer in this particular tournament circuit. Sean's opponent in the final is a very experience competitor and in this occasion Sean was successful in winning his bout taking first place. It is great to see Sean finally performing in kumite and I know that Sean will perform well in his future tournament ventures.

Great work everyone!!
